Oakhurst Bowling/2nd Oakhurst Post Office - 62 Monmouth Road, Oakhurst, NJ 07755
Most people don't realize it, but there used to be a bowling alley on Monmouth Road in downtown Oakhurst. It was built in 1939 and was destroyed by fire on July 13, 1949. (Unfortunately, we only have exterior photos from the night of the fire. If you have any photos, let us know, we would love to get copies)
It was replaced when the United States Postal Service decided to build a bigger Post Office in Oakhurst. That post office was soon outgrown, and the current facility on West Park Avenue replaced it. It has been a number of stores since the Post Office moved. Today it is occupied by High Maintenence Studio 62.
