Charles J. Smith was the local butcher in Oakhurst in the early 1900s at 50 Monmouth Road. His market, located on Monmouth Road, boasted a delivery wagon and delivery man. This delivery service was needed to maintain the business of customers living in the large estates along Park and Norwood Avenues.
He Built a larger store next door at 48 Monmouth Road and moved there. That Building still exists, with little changed, as Esposito's Fish Market.
