62 Norwood Avenue, Shadow Lawn Manor, NJ
Golden Crest

Golden Crest, on Norwood Ave (still standing), was designed by Hudson County Architect, Hugh Roberts, who also designed the Hudson County Court House, for E.F.C. Young, President of the 1st National Bank of Jersey City and an unsuccessful Democratic candidate for NJ Governor in 1892. He built the house in 1901, as a golden wedding anniversary gift to his wife Harriet.

In 1929, the house was sold to Victor and Edmund Wisner, who ran it as a rooming house for summer vacationers. In 1960, it was a frat house for the then Monmouth College. From 1972 to 1976, it was owned and restored by Mary and Samuel Weir. It is now a private residence.
